Great resource Tony - I read through the Preface of Vol. 1 (skimming some sections, detailed reading at other points) - what a little goldmine! His words reminded me of Spurgeon (and caused me to wonder if Simeon had influenced Spurgeon at this point):

"I have great repect for orthodoxy, but my reverence for inspiration is far greater. I would sooner a hundred times over appear to be incinsistent with myself than be inconsistent with the word of God...God forbid that I should cut or shape, even in the least degree, any divine expression."

Loved some of Simeon's thoughts on Preaching also.

"UNITY in the design, PERSPICUITY in the arrangement, and SIMPLICITY in the diction."

"I never preach unless I feel satisfied that I have the mind of God as regards the sense of the passage."
